Despite China’s aggression, India’s trade with Beijing has increased and that is not right, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal apparently said at the BJP-led Centre.
“We buy goods such as slippers, figurines and mattresses from China. Why can’t we manufacture them in India? posed during the Republic Day celebration at the Chhatrasal Stadium here. Emphasizing that all these items can be manufactured in the country, Kejriwal said it will create jobs for the youth and send a strong signal to China.
He claimed that according to reports, China was “occupying” part of Indian territory, which is a cause of concern for every citizen.
“Despite Chinese aggression, we are increasing trade with them. It increased by 50 percent. We make China richer. This is not right,” he said.
Kejriwal claims that various state governments are being “harassed”. In many states, university vice-chancellors were appointed by elected state governments, but these appointments were canceled by governors, he argued.
“Some dark shadow seems to be enveloping democracy,” claimed the AAP national convener.
“Why don’t we learn from the good works of other states? There is no problem that has not been solved in other states,” he said.
Claiming that Delhi has the lowest inflation in the country, he said prices are much higher in BJP-ruled Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
“Education, health, transport, electricity and water are free in Delhi. That is why inflation is least in Delhi. The imposition of GST on food has made them more expensive. I urge the Center to abolish GST on food and give relief to the people,” he said and also called for simplification of the entire GST regime.
