News Politics: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi once again caused controversy when he accused VD Savarkar of ‘helping’ the British in their struggle for freedom and loyalty. Gandhi’s remarks received criticism from allies and opponents, with the latest criticism coming from historian and author Vikram Sampat.
“Retreat from all the televised debate on this unrelated issue, which is constantly whipped when anything else fails. I don’t want to spend my precious time glorifying these stupid juvenile comments. Apologies in advance to the channel’s relationship managers who contacted me,” Sampath tweeted.
Taking to Twitter, Sampath expressed strong disagreement with the congressional leader’s remarks, calling him “a fool” for his “underage” remarks.
Earlier on Thursday, Chairman Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray also disagreed with the Congress leader’s comments and said his party deeply respects Savarkar and disagrees with Gandhi’s remarks about Hindutva ideology too try.
