News Sports: Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward will leave the club at the end of the season after just one year.
His decision was said to be unexpected and the club disappointed.
Ward took over his duties from his predecessor Michael Edwards over the summer. Michael Edwards is widely credited with many of the Reds’ recent successes in the transfer market, but he has chosen to leave due to wanting a break in the 10+ year transfer market.
However, the continuity that made him Edwards’ successor continues to play an important role, backed by longtime senior staff such as Dave Fallows (Head of Recruitment) and Barry Hunter (Chief Scout). I am confident that we will be able to regain some stability by doing so.
He told The Boston Globe last week: “We have received a lot of interest from a number of potential partners looking to invest in the club.
“We are still in the early stages of exploring potential investment opportunities in Liverpool.”
